Become a Friend of the orchestra
For more than forty years, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century has been performing iconic and lesser-known repertoire with an inquiring attitude, a progressive outlook and a unifying vision. This would not be possible without the support of our Friends. This support enables us to continue playing at the highest level, to carry on the historically informed practice in the Netherlands and beyond, and to organise special, innovative projects.
In the past, musicians were supported by patrons. People such as Gottfried van Swieten and the Esterházy family ensured that Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven were able to develop, present and cultivate their music. Today, this support is still necessary to keep their work alive, especially now that support from other sources is becoming less and less self-evident.
With your support for the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, we can:
- Keep the repertoire alive at the highest level and in a historically informed manner.
- Discover and perform new and unknown repertoire.
- Discover and develop talented musicians and fulfil our role in the historically informed practice.
So why not become a Friend of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century? As a thank you, we offer you the opportunity to experience the orchestra up close: you will receive invitations to our Friend rehearsals, be the first to receive our new season programme, and have the chance to meet other Friends and musicians during a drinks reception or a dinner. Friend
With an annual contribution of €100, you can become a Friend of Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. You will receive an invitation to one Friends Rehearsal, the Friends Concert and the Friends Drinks. Furthermore, you will be the first to receive the full programme for our upcoming season.
Van Swieten Circle
When you donate €500 annually, you become a member of our Van Swieten Circle. We invite you to three Friends Rehearsals, the Friends Concert and the Friends Drinks, and we will send you our new season programme in the spring. You will also receive an invitation to our annual Side by Side concert with the Royal Conservatoire and to a special lecture. In addition, we will send you a CD of our most recent recording.
Esterházy Circle
With an annual donation of €1.500 or more, you will become a member of our Esterházy Circle. You will be invited to five Friends rehearsals, the Friends concert and the Friends Drinks, and you will receive the new season programme and a CD. Furthermore, you will not only receive an invitation to our Side by Side concert and a lecture, but also to an annual dinner with our musicians. Lastly, we will invite you to the first premiere of the season.
Adopt a project
Would you like to support a specific project or theme? With a contribution of €2.500 or more, you can adopt (part of) a project. You can then specify how your donation will be used. This could be for a composition commission, a talent development programme or a recording. If you are interested in adopting a project, we would be happy to discuss this with you. Foundation Friends of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century
The foundation’s funds are used exclusively for activities that benefit the orchestra, such as concerts in the Netherlands and abroad.
The foundation is registered by the Tax and Customs Administration as a Cultural Public Benefit Organisation (ANBI). This means that for donations to the Foundation Friends of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, there is an extra 25% tax deduction you can apply on your income tax return. Read more.
