In her quest for balance, Annelies van der Vegt combines the auditory and the visual in her life. This is reflected, amongst other things, in her photography and her work as a musician. A photograph must tell a story; for that, you need light, composition and the right moment – just as you do in music. The intersection between her two professions is both intriguing and guiding for her.
She lives in the heart of Amsterdam and on a peninsula in northern Norway. She tours regularly with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Netherlands Bach Society. Born in the Netherlands, she studied modern violin at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Vera Beths, after which she specialised in Baroque violin with Lucy van Dael at the Conservatoire of Amsterdam.
She is grateful to play a beautiful Dutch violin by Johannes Cuypers, dating from 1780.
