Since 1981 the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century has specialized in the performance of 18th and early 19th century music on period instruments. Touring in the Netherlands and abroad six to eight times per year, the orchestra brings the old masterpieces to life.
5 continents, 35 countries, 350 cities, 50 musicians, 40 composers, 300 pieces, 180 tours and 1674 concerts so far.

The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, an international group of musicians specializing in the performance of 18th and early 19th century music, was founded in 1981 by Frans Brüggen, Lucy van Dael and a group of friends. The Orchestra is generously supported by the Fonds Podiumkunsten of the Netherlands and by an international Circle of Friends.
